Legal paternity testing is a test that is conducted to determine who is the childs biological father. There are times when the identity of the father may not be clear because of the circumstances and this can create a lot of issues. With an accurate test, you can finally have confirmation.

The test is based on dna or deoxyribonucleic acid, which contains a persons genetic material. Each individual has his own unique set of dna. If this is analyzed for markers and then compared to another sample, then one can determine if the individuals are related or not. The results from this test are reputed to have a high degree of accuracy.

There are kits available so you can obtain samples. Once you have a sample, this can be sent to the facility that will do the processing. Kits are not costly but then you will still have to pay the facility for doing the test. You may want to check on several facilities first so you can find something that is affordable.

There are differences in the way this tests are being conducted. It will depend on whether the test is for informational purposes only or if it has to be utilized in a case. If it is the latter, then certain procedures will have to be followed to prevent tampering in the samples or in the results.

If you want the test to be admissible in court, then the cost will be higher. Settling for a home test however does not mean that you the accuracy of the test is going to be affected. The lab will still be following the same process for testing those samples.

There are many circumstances that can induce the need for an official test. An adoption for example may have to get this confirmation. If you stand to inherit some properties and there is still some doubt about who your father is, then the test may be required.

If the test results have to stand in court, then there should be someone authorized to witness the sampling. The individuals who are tested have to show proof of their identity. The samples will be monitored closely to ensure that it reaches the facility with no tampering. Processing will then begin and the results will be released thereafter.

You can obtain samples in the comfort of your own home or it can be done at the facility. It can take several days to obtain the results. Note that the waiting period can vary from facility to facility. One will have to make special arrangements if the people to be tested are not in the same area. Moreover, the schedule for taking those samples have to be finalized.

Legal paternity testing provides confirmation regarding the identity of the biological father. The test is considered accurate since dna, which is unique to every person, will be used for the process. You can use this to put those doubts to rest or you can utilize the results for legal purposes.
