Most folks hope to stay as healthy as they can for as long as possible. There isn't any shame in this. It is why we work out. Most of us have learned which foods to eat to have a balanced diet full of health-giving foods. This is the reason we keep a bottle of pure water handy throughout our day. We know we need to do these things to stay healthy day to day.

But what if it is cold and flu season? Are the people at your workplace or school coming down with colds? Are you trying to avoid them so you don't get sick? While most people don't think of meat products necessarily as superfoods, pork chops are, indeed, a superfood for your immune system. This is probably not welcome news to vegetarians and vegans but that doesn't make it any less true. There are times when you are losing weight and it's bad for your health. Eating 6-ounces of pork chops during this critical time can stop the weight loss. When some folks are sick, they drop weight. If they eat the pork chops, the weight loss will stop. You don't have to be worried about being bored with pork chops, because there are many different ways to cook and serve them.

Kale, if you eat it raw, is great for your health. Raw kale supplies a form of Vitamin C that is highly rated. Other benefits of kale include its high fiber and low sugar content. Raw kale is quite a lot better for you than cooked kale, because the cooking of the kale reduces the amount of vitamin C that you take in.

Did you know that sunflower seeds can boost your immune system? They are a delicious superfood. They contain a lot of Vitamin E. Vitamin E is an important part of your body being able to keep your sinuses and other mucous membranes healthy.

Salmon has been touted as one of the great superfoods for many reasons. One of the benefits of eating salmon is its ability to optimize your immune system. Both protein and omega-3 fatty acids are abundant in salmon. These are very important to keep your health at an optimum level. Your muscles need protein in order to grow and stay strong so they can fight diseases that invade your body. There are bacteria and germs that invade our body and cause illness. Omega-3s fight these invaders to protect our health from Omega-6s. It's a good idea to have a meal that contains salmon at least two times each week. The goal is to eat Omega-3 rich fish three times a week. This, however, can be boring, but strive for at least two meals of salmon weekly.

For the most part, these are foods that are easy enough to cook into the other foods you eat at meals. We have talked about a few of those foods in this article.
